One of the most effective, least expensive and
most accessible exercise for most people is
walking. Walking is a great form of exercise for
a person of any fitness level.  Taking a
30-minute walk at least 3 times per week will
get you on your way to becoming fit.

Walking can be therapeutic especially if you
are lucky to have your walk on a beach, in a
park, or any other place where you can enjoy
nature and being outdoors. You can spend
time with friends as you walk or meet new ones
by joining a walking club.

Before you begin your walk start by doing a few
stretches. Bring water and carry it so that it
does not impede your ability to walk
comfortably, such as using a case that wraps
around your waist. If you are walking alone you
can listen to walking CD's that encourage you
along the way, or simply some of your favorite
music. Wear a pedometer to track your
progress and how many steps you take. Many
people take their walking exercise indoors by
walking around malls before the stores open!
